Sina’s Basketball Hoop Academy –Mergin Sina

GSB’s varsity basketball coach Mergin Sina offers a program for players to develop and enhance their fundamental basketball skills. Campers will develop new skills, improving their overall game. As a former Division 1 and European professional basketball player, Coach Sina brings his depth of knowledge and coaching experience to the camp. Players of all ages and abilities welcome! Campers can either bring their lunch or purchase pizza slices for $2.00 each.

Aaron Gratch, GSB Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach

GSB’s girls’ varsity basketball coach Aaron Gratch offers a program for players to develop and enhance their fundamental basketball skills. Campers will develop new skills, improving their overall game. Fundamentals are the number-one priority in his coaching. Coach Gratch is a former Division 1 collegiate coach (Colgate University) and led GSB to the programs first ever state title in 2013 along with a #15 national ranking by USA Today. Coach Gratch is a five time coach of the year award winner.

Olde School Lacrosse Camp, a teaching camp emphasizing the fundamentals of Lacrosse, is being run by Directors Stephen Duffy and Ron Sansone. Duffy is the coach for the 2015 MLL Champions, New York Lizards, and the Former Head Coach for the Boston Cannons. Sansone credentials include Salisbury University, Lincoln-Sudbury High School and Leading Edge. Its mission is to maximize the talent of each player through the best lacrosse environment built on respect, responsibility and competition! We strive for each player to get the most out of themselves and learn what it’s like to be THE BEST! Full day players have pool time and lunch included in the cost. Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR Certification / Recertification

Teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

Prerequisites: Minimum age of 15. Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke only demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidate will place arms under the armpits.

Certification Requirement: Attend all class sessions. Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities. Demonstrate competency in all final rescue scenarios. Pass both Section 1 – CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid and Section 2 – Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with a minimum of 80 percent.  Certificate Issued and Validity Period: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED: 2 years

Recertification Course

The recertification course is designed to review the lifeguarding skills and core knowledge points required to recertify     in lifeguarding. Prerequisite: Current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate. Note: If the Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate is expired, participants must take the full Lifeguarding or Shallow Water Lifeguarding Course.

Maestro Soccer “Striker – Keeper” Camp

Maestro Soccer will run 5 days of run, intensive training for all players wanted to improve their goal scoring or goalkeeping ability! All aspects of attacking play, such as crossing and finishing, long range shooting, 1 time finishing and heading will all be covered in this 5 day all-inclusive camp. Goalkeepers will be instructed in all areas of their position; handling, diving, dealing with crosses, angels and much more! The unique camp will train strikers and goalies separately for the first part of the day, then training groups are combined to create goalies versus strikers in motivating, realistic training scenarios! You do not have to be a full time goalie or striker to attend – any player wanting to improve their goal scoring or goalkeeping skills can sign up. Players will be streamed by ability, age and gender. Full day campers have pool time and lunch included in the cost.

Maestro Total Soccer and High School Prep Camp

Great camps for 2016 specifically aimed to develop and prepare the travel and high school soccer player. Run by Gill St. Bernard’s Varsity Girls’ head soccer coach Mike Williams, this camp will provide a variety of intensive training situations to prepare players for the high school season. With video analysis, technical, tactical and soccer-specific conditioning all included in the camp, this is a first-rate camp experience to be the best possible preparation for high school soccer. Lunch and poll use included in the cost for full day campers.

Mountain Biking – Mind, Body, Spirit

Bob Ort, GSB Upper School Teacher

Experience the exhilaration of mountain biking! In conjunction with Marty’s Reliable Bikes of Hackettstown, you will explore the outdoors in ways you couldn’t have imagined.

First, you will learn how to use your mountain bike safely and efficiently while touring several park locations in NJ. Second, you will learn about proper nutrition and hydration before, during and after our biking experiences, ensuring that you have good energy levels and a healthy state of mind to enjoy mountain biking. Finally, you will gain an appreciation for the environment by learning how to maintain trails.

The program includes a trip to Manasquan, NJ, for a day trip with lunch to Allaire Park. Photography will be an important component, also, to document the wonderful learning experiences and memories you will have.

Of course, the most important aspect of the program is “safety first,” and we will always have experienced adult mountain bike riders with first aid training on the trails with the students at all times. All registrations are due by June 13th to ensure participation in the program.

Soccer Vision Soccer Camp

GSB’s soccer coaches, the award–winning Bednarskys, bring both collegiate and club soccer experience to Soccer Vision. Fundamentals will be stressed as well as the development of new skills and techniques. Sessions will include scrimmages, game situations and a wide variety of drills. Full–day campers will have scheduled pool time, and lunch is included. High school players, this is a great pre-season warm-up! This camp is suitable for players of all skill levels.

Nicole Spiotta, GSB Girls’ Varsity Softball Coach

Looking for a way to improve your daughter’s basic softball fundamentals, while preparing her for the next level? If so, the softball clinic is the perfect program for you! Run by the Gill St. Bernard’s Varsity Softball Coach, Nicole Spiotta, this clinic will help each player on an individual level break down the basic fundamentals of the sport to improve their batting, hitting, fielding and base running skills. Furthermore, the players will learn the strategic side of the game and develop a mental aspect of the sport in a team setting. Coach Nicole’s passion for the sport provided her with the experiences of collegiate coaching, team training, individual lessons, and youth clinics. Whether this is your daughter’s first time picking up a ball or she is in the recruitment process, the Softball Clinic is designed to strengthen all player’s physical and mental mechanics related to the sport. Are you ready to take your tennis skills to the next level; then this is the program for you!
